2014 Holy Land Pilgrimage

There’s room for only two more!
Plan NOW for your Holy Land Pilgrimage
ISRAEL AND JORDAN
In The Footsteps Of Jesus and Elijah
15 Nights June 18 to July 3 (15 nights) ,

This Holy Land pilgrimage is
one of the most significant things you will ever do in your life;
more than worth the financial investment;
more than worth the time investment and the faith investment;
stand where the Son of God the Lord Jesus stood;
be utterly fulfilled;
see where people like Elijah, Elisha, Moses, Abraham, Melchizedek, King David, John the Baptist, the Essenes and others lived and furthered God's work;
be inspired and uplifted;
meet Christian hermits still living in the presence of God in Israel;
encounter Jesus as you have never seen him before!
With loads of first class teachings at every site this pilgrimage is all this and more. You will LOVE it!

Dates
The pilgrimage is from June 18 to July 3, a total of 15 nights.
Five nights in Jerusalem area.
Three nights in Jordan;
Five nights in the Galilee area; and
Two nights in Bet Shamesh.
Itinerary
Plan for an arrival at Tel Aviv airport on Friday, June 18 by 2pm, or come the day before and be more relaxed.

June 18 our first night on the pilgrimage will see us at the place of Elijah on Mount Carmel. On the way to Nazareth the next day we will attend Sabath Church at Kehilat haCarmel with David Davis, Peter Tsukahira and their friends. They really know how to worship there as they “Restore the Altar of the Lord on Mount Carmel” and they do it in English, Hebrew and Arabic.
After lunch in the church we’ll drive to the place on Carmel that is famous for where Elijah the Prophet called fire down onto the sacrifice of bullocks as a way of proving that Yahweh alone is God. In the late afternoon we’ll descend the mountain and cross over the lush plains of the lower Galilee to ascend the hills of Nazareth.

June 19 to 25 We will enjoy sleeping 6 nights in Nazareth where wonderful surprises await us. We will visit Mount Tabor which is one of two possible locations for the transfiguration, Cana where Jesus turned the water into wine, Nain where Jesus resurrected a widow’s dead son, Megiddo and the Plains of Armageddon where it has been prophesied the last great battle on Earth will be waged . . . and much more, including visiting an authentic Nazareth farmlet revealed as it was in Jesus’ day, the old Nazareth synagogue that would have served Jesus as a school, the old Nazareth market place, and of course the extraordinary Basilica of the Annunciation that commemorates the Angel Gabriel coming to the teenage Mary with the news of her role in becoming the Mother of the Incarnate Son of God.
We’ll drive down to the Sea of Galilee and visit the convent that commemorates Jesus teaching on the Beatitudes. The view is breathtakingly panoramic, and gives us a wonderful outlook on Jesus’ ministry in Capernaum, Tabgha, Bethsaida and of course the crowds who came to see him all around the famous Sea of Galilee.
We will also tour the Golan Heights to reach magnificent Mount Hermon, the largest of the Holy Mountains in all the area, and the most likely place where Jesus experienced the transfiguration and the overthrow of “the dragon” in the times ever before his baptism and his ministry began.

June 25 to 27 are spent across the Eastern border in the mountains of Jordan beginning at the place of the prophets Elijah and Elisha at Ajloun. We will stay in a comfortable hotel owned by a Jordanese Christian with a wealth of local knowledge, from where you can see the largest and most famous of all the Crusader era castles in all Jordan, built by Salah ad-Din al-Ayyubi (Saladin), in AD 1184-1185.

On day two in Jordan we will head South to the Dead Sea area of Mount Nebo, the mountain top from which Moses looked across to the Promised Land. We will stay in a hotel in Madaba again, owned by Jordanese Christians with a wealth of local knowledge who always beg me to come and stay longer for there is so much to see and do. At this place we may have to share a room with a friend as, typically, they have no single rooms.

On day three in Madaba we will visit the site of Elijah’s going to heaven, and the traditional site of John the Baptist's baptising at Bethany Beyond Jordan. Of course John would have baptised at several places up the River Jordan in order to catch as many people as possible at the different crossings, and this is one of them.
My personal take on it is that Jesus was baptised at the Sheikh Hussein Crossing, further North and only a day’s walk from Capernaum where he would have been living at the time. Which is to where we drive to leave our Jordan rental car and cross the Jordan River to retrieve our Israeli car and head South to Jerusalem.

June 28 to July 3 our evenings are spent in Jerusalem only metres away from the place that many believe Jesus was crucified, died, was buried and rose again from the tomb ... called Golgotha. Amidst the hustle and bustle of the Arab market place, ancient stones and historic sites lay at our feet.

June 28 to July 2 are spent in and around Jerusalem while we will visit a large number of holy sites . . . the Mount of Olives, Bethany and Lazarus' tomb, Bethphage where Jesus rode on the donkey colt, the Old City of Jerusalem including the Jewish wailing wall and the Temple Mount, the old market place, the Upper Room of the Last Supper and the place where Jesus washed the apostles’ feet, the Via Dolorosa walk that Jesus took with the cross to Golgotha’s Mount Moriah and the Holy Sepulchre.
I have arranged for us to share in the extraordinary services with the hermit sisters of the Community of Bethlehem who live at Bet Shamesh. We will arrive with enough time for you to enjoy a question and answer time with one of these moniales (female hermits), discussing the things that make up a deeper and a desert-faith walk with Christ and the Holy Spirit in their life and times.
We will also visit Emmaus and Bethlehem, and give you time away from the crowded city to reflect on the deeper things of God’s calling on your life.

The pilgrimage ends on July 3, 2014. Some people stay longer and make their own arrangements. Others go on to other pilgrimages, such as to Saint Anthony’s desert Fathers’ monastery in Egypt, or Saint Charbel’s monastery in Lebanon, or to Saint Catherine’s monastery in the Sinai of Egypt.
We depart and go our own ways unless you choose to stay on. Perhaps you will choose to stay on in Bethlehem, or something else just as exciting and wonderful in the nations around about.
